This 1968 photo (taken in the Pacific en route
to San Francisco )shows HMS Caprice lurching some 20 degrees to
starboard in heavy seas. Some memorable events in this storm included:
The starboard ship's boat broke one of its lashings and was holed.
A life raft was lost (not realised until a major sea search was
about to be launched as its radio beacon had started transmitting!)
She could well have taken water down the funnel!
